CMS #38

sigh ... it has been quite a while since I've updated my blog!  I haven't done much scrapping during that time, either ... between a demanding day job and vacation there really hasn't been much time.  Now, with the weather finally getting good, my scrappy time will probably be limited based on outside activities.  I really NEED to get my behind in gear and get the Germany albums done, though.  We'll be going to Alaska in late July and there will be a ton of work to do from that trip.  I think I'll need to do about 6 albums from that trip alone!   That will definitely keep me busy for quite some time ...

Anyway, back to the task at hand:  Color Me Scrappy Challenge #38.

Here's the color palette and the twist this time around was to use paint or mist on your layout.  I opted for the mist route.

I like the challenges coming every 2 weeks much better than weekly ... I always felt rushed when we had a reveal every Thursday. I'm ready for spring. Seriously. I need warmth and sunshine in my life again. This color palette makes me realize that it's close, just not close enough!

I'm pretty happy with my result ... pink usually isn't my thing but I'm liking it on this page ...

Color Me Scrappy Challenge #33

Happy Friday Everyone!

Challenge #33 marks the start of another Design Team term.  We're sad to see some very talented ladies leave us, but thrilled with the level of talent that has replaced them.  The outgoing team will always have a special place in our hearts  ...

Here's the fresh, happy palette for Challenge #33

This palette makes me long for spring and warmer weather ...

Here's the twist:  use this sketch by our fabulously talented Christina Collins

Here's my take on this yummy palette:

I was really surprised when I went through my stash, I had way more mint green than I thought I did ... I'm really happy with the end result as well ... and for some strange reason,  really loving the simple pages these days.

CMS #30

This post is slightly out of order, but I'm finally getting around to taking pics of this layout!  I loved this color palette, over the years orange has become one of my favorite colors!

Color Me Scrappy #31

The winter blah's have hit ... I'm sick of the cold, sick of the snow and sick of the freezing rain.   I should seriously rethink the state I live in.  I think I'd like to be a snow bird.  Florida in the winter sounds fabulous.  Michigan in the summer is beautiful.  Now, how to make that happen??  My job isn't the problem ... I can work from anywhere ... my better half, well ... he'd probably have to retire for us to be able to split our time ... sigh ... someday!

In the meantime, I have an update to the '100 pages before buying anything scrappy' challenge that Lisa and I are doing.  I'm at 71 and she is at 68!  Fantastic progress!  Our goal is to finish by Mother's Day weekend so we can go to the Mega Meet  and stock up on some great deals!

Here's the color palette for Color Me Scrappy's 31st challenge:

this is the page I came up with:

CMS Design Team

Lisa and I had a very difficult time selecting the new design team members for the next CMS term.  We had a lot of fantastic applications and feel like we've chosen quite a few different styles to compliment the existing team.  We'd love to thank everyone who applied and encourage them to apply next time around, you all really did a great job!  Here are the latest Design Team members:

My name is Mary Bennetts and I have been scrapping for about 9 years. I have always loved pretty papers, stationary and photo's, so scrapbooking is the perfect craft for me, I must say it is more a passion than a craft. I do something scrap related nearly every day.
I am married with 3 grown children, 2 adorable Grandchildren and one very spoilt old dog named Scruffy. I live at Orange NSW, we grow nearly everything , but no Oranges! I love to travel, enjoy reading and meeting friends for coffee.
When I am scrapping the photo and story tend to dictate what style the layout takes, and I like to try new techniques and I am totally addicted to all things scrappy.

I have been a happy scrapper for 15 years now. It helps that I have 3 willing subjects, my kids! I have 2 girls (Brittany - 22 and Jessica -10) and my little guy (Jason -5). With this age range, I can pretty much scrap just about every subject out there. Which makes me a happy shopper…i mean, scrapper. :) My style is pretty simple and clean, but I'm willing to try any technique at least once. Nothing wrong with trying new things!

I am from a small town in Northern Ontario Canada where we've been having crazy winter weather lately. I have a secret passion for scrapbooking and cardmaking. I have always had a creative side; sketching, drawing, painting, mixed media... I have tried them all and I love it! I am married to the sweetest man who loves to travel. We have 2 beautiful children together and 2 spoiled Siamese cats. I have been scrapbooking for over 10 years now. I love how it has evolved and grown. Keeps me ready to create :)

My name is Manda and I am a graphic designer living in Melbourne, Australia. I love all things paper and being creative. My first adventure into the world of paper crafting was back in 2005 when I started making cards to give to family and friends, I soon became so addicted to card making and the next logical step was to move onto scrapbook pages and since then I have never looked back. I am a bit of a sketch and challenge addict because I find them as a great starting point. I am owner of Mandalika Designs, an online store selling both printable and physical journal cards and elements for scrapbooking that I have designed myself. I have
recently been lucky enough to be involved in starting Life. Paper. Scrapbook which is a quarterly online magazine and blog celebrating scrapbooking in Australia (and the rest of the world). The first issue is set to be released on March 27.

I live in Iowa with my husband and 2 beautiful daughters. I'm very lucky to be a stay at home mom to my girls. Both my girls are in school full time now they are in 1st and 3rd grade. Now that they are in school I spend my free time at the gym, volunteering at school, taking an online photography class to improve my photography skills and scrapbooking. I started scrapbooking over ten years ago (wow that makes me feel old). My first scrapbook was my wedding book looking back at it I can see how my style has evolved. My style has changed over the years just like the different trends in scrapbooking have come and gone. We moved last summer for my husbands job so I was lucky enough to get a room to use for my scrapbooking so I am able to leave projects out as I go. My dream would be to some day have a project published in a scrapbook magazine I just love to show people my work and hope that I inspire them some way.

CMS Challenge #22

I'm thankful that I got this page done last month at my scrappy weekend, because I sure wouldn't have had time to do so recently! Work has kept me very busy and I'm thankful that I'm done for the rest of the year! My plans include lots of painting and lots of scrappy time, filled in by parties and gatherings. This time around, Lisa and I chose to go with non-traditional Xmas colors ... we figured we'd make you think outside the box on this one.

Here's my take on these colors ...

Happy Holidays to each and every one of you!

Wow ... the year has flown by already!  I can't believe Thanksgiving has passed and we're gearing up for the Xmas holiday season!!!

I'm totally in LOVE w/ this palette ... Grey and Orange are 2 of my favorite colors right now ... I think if I could paint every room Grey and have pops of orange, I would!!!

Here's my take on this yummy palette:

Color Me Scrappy - Challenge #18

Oooooh ... I LOVE this color palette and Kraft backgrounds are always fun ...

Here's my take on this challenge:

I've been pretty busy w/ my day job lately and haven't had the time to do much blogging ... I need to take some detailed photos of my pages and get them uploaded!

Color Me Scrappy - Challenge #16

Wow, with the new format ... the challenges are flying at me!  I love this color combo and our Design Team knocked this one out of the park!

The twist this week is to use the word "ENTER" in either your title or journaling ...

I seriously LOVED working with these colors ...

Color Me Scrappy - Challenge 15!

Wow, it's the first reveal of our new Design Team!  Lisa and I are thrilled to have the continued support and participation from so many talented ladies ... this has been an awesome adventure so far, and we hope it just continues to grow!

Some of you may know, we made some changes to the way that Color Me Scrappy works:

Also, don't forget about our format changes!  We're excited to mix things up a bit and hope you are too!

Our first change is to go to weekly challenges with a twist.  They will be revealed each and every Thursday and will look like this:
  • color challenge + sketch
  • color challenge + "word"
  • color challenge + technique
  • color challenge + white, black or kraft BG
  • color challenge (for those months with 5 Thursdays)
Each challenge will be open for 2 weeks, which gives you plenty of time to get your LO in.
Our prizes will still be awarded monthly, but the more LOs you complete, the more times your name gets dropped in the hat, which obviously improves your chances to win!!  We are still prohibitive to having only US and Canadian winners due to the cost of shipping, but there is something coming for our international players as well...
We will have a "Top 3" each and every month.  This is voted on by our DT and the winners of this have the opportunity to come back as Guest Designers the following month.

So, here's the color palette for challenge #15

Here's the sketch you need to use:  remember you can flip/rotate as necesary

this is my take on it:

C.S.I. Case File 38

Love this Case File and had a blast solving it!

Here's how I solved this Case ... I'm super giddy over the result ...

CSI #37

Since Peace, Love & Scrapbooking sponsored C.S.I. for the month of August, Lisa and I were featured as Guest Detectives all month long ... when that ended I decided to continue to play along since Debbi does such an awesome job with the Case Files!

Case File 37:

Here's how I solved this case:

this is very different than my usual style ... I love all of the doodling/pen work and messy paint splatters  ... thanks for looking ...

Color Me Scrappy - Challenge #13

October 1st ... where has the year gone?  It was this time last year that Lisa and I started kicking around ideas to start out own challenge blog ... low and behold, a year later and here we are!  Challenge #13 has been posted, our first Design Team's term is coming to an end and we're sorting through applications for the next term of Designers ... wow!  In that time I've also started my own kit club (Peace, Love & Scrapbooking) ... things have been hectic in my scrapping world, but I wouldn't change it for anything!

Here's the fabulous palette we've selected to welcome fall to our lives ... seems appropriate, dontcha think?!

My page features photos from our trip to Germany last year (are you sick of them yet?!)  I messed up in the planning and didn't realize that you needed a reservation to tour the Reichstag ... and they were sold out the entire time we were there ... so all we got to do was see the outside ...

Peace, Love & Scrapbooking - July Kit Inspiration

So I'm a little behind on my Design Team duties for Peace, Love & Scrapbooking ... life has been busy this summer!  I spent Saturday scrapping with my good friend, Lisa, and was able to complete this page.    I'm totally IN LOVE with the result!   What do you think?
